Gelt Program
The P.O. is pleased to introduce the gift card "Gelt program" to our families. Faculty and staff who buy Gelt will help to support programs provided for the school by the P.O. This program is designed to help families earn money toward their children's junior year Panim program and/or the Senior Israel Experience. The program is a passive earning system, in which you buy the things you ordinarily purchase anyway and earn money which will be credited to your family for designated school trips. JUF Teen Leader
Ten exceptional high school juniors were selected from a group of outstanding, dedicated teens who were nominated by lay leaders, clergy and professionals because of their involvement in multiple activities (Jewish and secular), their leadership roles, and their ability to be role models for their peers. The award winners were honored at a kick-off event in April at the Weinger JCC. Among the best and the brightest was our own Alex Krule, who was awarded a $1,000 scholarship for use in Jewish leadership. Mazal Tov, Alex! |

This Week in Sports

With the wind whistling in their ears, the spring sports teams continue to enjoy successful seasons. Congratulations to our men's tennis team, who faced off against Lake Forest Academy and Elgin Academy, and to our women's badminton team who challenged Buffalo Grove and Maine East. Women's soccer had a tough week against Willows Academy and Lake Forest, while men's volleyball stayed home to meet St. Martin de Porres.
Congratulations also to Ashdod (coaches Aliza Shapiro and Aviva Schwartz ) andBnei Hasharon(coach Adam Seidenberg ), the champions of the Junior Tigers feeder league, who finished an incredible season with an awards banquet on Sunday night. We hope to see all of you back on the court next year, and welcome the rising Tigers and Lady Tigers soon to be celebrating their middle school graduation. Next year at the IHSA, everyone!
Too warm and sunny to sit in the office? Got a free hour after school? Stop by the field to cheer on our Tigers! Check the calendar for next week's game times.

Alumni Trivia
...Who can forget the greatest escapade ever perpetrated outside 7800 W. Lyons, when the pioneer class threw a lunchtime pool party in the back of Garrett Jacobs' ('05) truck for Senior Week 2005? The music was blasting and the seniors were splashing, when a bunch of freshmen tried to prove that seniors don't have the patent on fun in the sun. Who can forget the sight of the biggest, baddest boys in the senior class, barefoot, drenched, and shivering in their boxers, locked out of the school and screaming for revenge after the freshmen had stolen their clothes?
Everyone knew who was responsible for plotting the great raid, but in the end, the devious little schemers chickened out and a complete unknown stepped up to do the deed. So, for this week's Alumni Trivia... who stole the seniors' clothes? (We'll give you a hint: he plays the guitar!)

Bike for Chai Lifeline

Support the families of Chai Lifeline. Please see Jeremy Hipps or Dr. Auslander for more information.

Alumni Trivia
Josh Warshawsky, CJHS '08, was the brave little freshman who actually snatched the seniors' clothes! After graduating, Josh spent a year in Israel with Nativ and is now a freshman at the joint program at Columbia University and the Jewish Theological Seminary. This year, Josh co-chaired the Jewish Collegiate Festival of the Performing Arts at JTS, in addition to sitting on the Koach board, and singing with the Columbia Clefhangers A Cappella Group. The ever-musical Josh recently appeared as Mottel in Columbia's Fiddler on the Roof. Watch a clip from his performance here! Alumni trivia afficionados can also credit Seth Berkman ('08) for holding the getaway door, the law-abiding Sandy Johnston ('07) for never ever suggesting the idea himself, dear me no, and Rabbi Eric Zaff (YCT '09) for looking out the window and expressing innocent surprise that the swimmers' clothes were still where they had left them! |
Sponsored Breakfasts
Happy birthdayto Jake Levine, Adam and Jake Rudolph, and Daniel Warshawsky. Many thanks to their families for sponsoring breakfast in their honor.
