The program is comprised of three strands: · Issues of Concern to Parents · The CJHS Book Group · Torah Lishma (Learning for its own sake) Please find the details about programs at www.cjhs.org/pdf/ parenteducation. Gelt ProgramThe P.O. is pleased to introduce the gift card "Gelt program" to our families. Faculty and staff who buy Gelt will help to support programs provided for the school by the P.O. This program is designed to help families earn money toward their children's junior year Panim program and/or the Senior Israel Experience. The program is a passive earning system, in which you buy the things you ordinarily purchase anyway and earn money which will be credited to your family for designated school trips. | | Team Lifeline
For the past two years, the CJHS community has sponsored senior Jeremy Hipps as he represented CJHS as part of Team Lifeline in the Miami Marathon. This year, junior Jake Levine is joining Jeremy as CJHS's new Team Lifeline representative. Jake is now trying to raise a minimum of $3,600 for Chai Lifeline in honor of the 13-mile race. Jake and Jeremy continue to run in honor of Yali Derman (CJHS '09), our own cancer survivor, as well as several of Jake's close relatives whom he has lost to cancer. Chai Lifeline is an international organization that provides year-round emotional, social, and financial support to more than 3,000 children and their families every year. To learn more about Chai Lifeline, visit its website, www.chailifeline.org. To contribute to Jake's cause, please visit his team web page at the Team Lifeline site or send a check made payable to Chai Lifeline to Jake Levine at 1095 Lake Cook Rd., Deerfield, IL 60015. |
CSI Deerfield - Holiday Special Mrs. Murphy's anatomy class was once again in the crime lab at the beginning of December. Students broke out the brushes and powders to dust for fingerprints on various surfaces around the lab. Loops, arches, and whorls aplenty were collected and analyzed. We also used ink to make a visual record of our prints on an FBI evidence card. Students now have a greater appreciation for the work of crime scene technicians. Class consensus was... "It isn't as easy as it looks!"

This Week in Sports Tigers basketball has been pounding away this week, with the men's JV and varsity teams defeating Elgin Academy and losing hard-fought games to Northridge Prep and ICJA. Stay tuned for the big game in January when we try to reclaim our lost honor from the hands of our arch rivals!
Our varsity and JV Lady Tigers beat Northtown Academy by 5 points and 21 points respectively, thanks to freshman Alana Stoehr's mighty 3-point shot right at the buzzer, which sent the game into overtime. These victories were followed by a tough loss to Christian Liberty on Wednesday and by Thursday's games against North Shore Country Day. The Tiger Shark swimmers can be seen sporting their new sweatshirts as they prepare for their winter meets. The Ten-Pin Tigers are now home from their match at Loyola Academy and are preparing for the Gordon Tech Winter Invite next week. |
IC 2009 Congratulations to all our students who are organizing USY's international convention over break. To register as a chaperone, click here or email Dr. Miller at drmiller@cjhs.org. |
