CJHS Prepares for its Upcoming Production of The Pajama Game

The Pajama Game is a Tony Award-winning Broadway musical dealing with labor troubles in the Sleep-Tite pajama factory, where worker demands for a 7 1/2 cent raise are ignored. Complications arise when romance blooms between Sid, the factory superintendent, and Babe, the head of the labor grievance committee.

This will be CJHS' largest production to date, featuring over 25 talented student performers as well as the choreography of sophomore Talia Stoehr. The cast and crew are hard at work, rehearsing after school and on Sundays to ensure a truly outstanding production.

Performances will take place at CJHS on Sunday, March 16 and Monday, March 17 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available at $10 for adults and $5 for students, and they can be purchased by calling the CJHS Fine Arts Hotline at 847.423.5979.

Mishloach Manot for Israeli Soldiers

Va'ad Tikkun Olam is sponsoring a drive to fund Mishloach Manot for a unit of the Israeli army through the organization Connections Israel. We hope to sponsor one unit by collecting $300 and writing personalized letters to soldiers. Students have been writing letters and collecting money over the past two weeks. To donate money, or for more information, please contact Nicole Wiznitzer at MIZWIZ91@aol.com.

Mishloach Manot Deadline - March 7

Purim is coming soon! Each year, the Va'ad and Va'ad Tikkun Olam sponsor a Mishloach Manot drive for the school community. Students, faculty, and staff can purchase Purim baskets for friends and colleagues. Every CJHS family will receive a basket of delicious treats.

Purchase Mishloach Manot for individual families at $5 per family, or donate $120 to sponsor Mishloach Manot for the entire school (200 baskets). All proceeds from this drive will be donated to Mazon: A Jewish Response to Hunger, to fulfill our obligation at Purim - and throughout the year - to feed those in need. Order forms have been placed in student mailboxes and have also been sent by e-mail. You can also download an order form by clicking here. Please make checks payable to MAZON, and return order forms and checks to Jeff Berger, Va'ad Fundraising Vice President, at CJHS by March 7.

CJHS Family Fun Night

On Sunday afternoon, February 24, the CJHS "Sunshine Ladies" (faculty members Ms. Debbie Brejcha, Ms. Karen Harris, and Ms. Claudia Linda) hosted our first-ever Family Fun Event for CJHS staff, faculty, and their families. Laughter filled the CJHS gym and environs as participants played basketball and volleyball, watched Finding Nemo, and played with puzzles, dominos, Connect Four, and Legos. Children joined art teacher Ms. Marla Snyder in decorating Tzedakah boxes to take home. CJHS students Victoria Aron and Lindsey Grad brought a Hannah Montana CD and led freeze dancing with the children. CJHS senior Lilli Flink helped with games and puzzles. The Sunshine Ladies thank Igor Burda, Inez Altman, and everyone else who helped make this day a success. The Sunshine Committee helps faculty and staff celebrate milestones, and provides support at times of need.
