Freshman Shabbaton a Great Success!
Members of the freshman class gathered this past Shabbat for the second annual Freshman Shabbaton, hosted by Congregation Beth Shalom in Northbrook. Students attended tefillot with the congregation, listened attentively to JTS Shabbat speaker (and CJHS alumnus) Jacob Shapiro. The students enjoyed several energetic programs planned by their peers, shared delicious meals, and spent a good amount of time simply relaxing.
Yasher koach to Alex Krule, Iszy Licht, Jordy Shapiro, Rachel Braun, Talia Stoehr, and Hannah Miller, who served on the committee for this Shabbaton. Thank you to Dr. and Mrs. Auslander, Eli Miller '07, and Ms. Musin for staffing the Shabbaton. Many thanks to the Licht, Delrahim, Stoehr, Miller, and Wolkin families for providing home hospitality to our students and faculty. Special thanks also go to Rabbi Aaron Melman, Harvey Gold, Rabbi Aaron Wolkin, Cantor Steven Stoehr, Anne Richardson, and Brian Miller for their dedication to making this event a success.
The next CJHS Shabbaton will be the All-School Spring Shabbaton, to be held March 28-29, 2008. |

Time Running Out to Support
CJHS Student's Run for Chai Lifeline
For many weeks, sophomore Jeremy Hipps and his father have been raising money for Chai Lifeline while they train for the ING Miami Half-Marathon. Yasher koach to you, the CJHS community, for rising to the challenge and contributing to this worthy cause. While Jeremy and Mr. Hipps have exceeded their $3,600 fundraising commitment to Chai Lifeline, an international organization that provides year-round emotional, social, and financial support to more than 3,000 children and their families each year, this remains a great opportunity to contribute to a worthwhile cause.
With 9 days until the race, it's not too late to make a donation at Jeremy's Website. |

Eleven dedicated swimmers train four times per week. The team is coached by Lee Cohn and his assistant Michael Weiss, and was the brainchild of Lee's daughter, junior Elli Cohn and athletic director Mr. Cohen.
Following the meet, Coach Cohn said, "It was so wonderful to see every one of our swimmers drop their times from our recent time trials." A second meet is planned for next month.
