Sophomores and juniors take PSAT at CJHS
CJHS offered the PSATs for the first time on our own campus. About 45 sophomores and juniors took the exam. Results will be available in December. Seniors and freshmen study mishnah during tefillah While the rest of CJHS was taking the PSAT, on Oct. 13
the seniors and the freshmen davened together. Director of Religious Life
Rabbi Goldberg paired each senior with a freshman and had them study two
mishnayot from Pirkei Avot. This learning experience emphasized that the
value of integration at CJHS is not just about integration of subject
matter, but social integration too. CFJE presents CJHS juniors with Israel opportunity William J. Rubin, CFJE executive director and chief operating
officer, spoke to CJHS juniors on Oct. 13 about Write on For Israel,
a program to train students in Israel advocacy specifically in the area
of journalism. Students involved in the program will participate in regular
seminars over a two-year period as well as a 10-day Israel experience.
CJHS juniors are encouraged to apply for this highly prestigious opportunity.
CJHS seniors and their parents learn the secrets to the Admissions Process Seniors and their parents attended "Inside the Admissions Office: A look at the College Application Process" on Sept. 27 at CJHS. Featured speakers included Director of College Counseling/Academic Dean Mr. Bruce Scher and Independent College Counselor Mrs. Marybeth Kravets. CJHS expands tefillah experience Through the students' dedication, skill and leadership CJHS has established a completely student-run minyan. This year as our school continues to grow we are piloting two new Tefillah initiatives to meet the evolving needs of our community: multiple minyanim and a senior class minyan. The Multiple Minyanim Program provides an opportunity for the students to choose among different styles of minyanim. The five minyanim follow the principles of the Conservative movement; that is, they fulfill the halachic requirements and are egalitarian. The Multiple Minyan Program will take place every other week on Tuesdays. The program will begin on Oct. 19. On Wednesdays the seniors daven in their own minyan. This provides the senior class an opportunity to bond as a class and to reflect on the culmination of their high school experience.
