CJHS students' art displayed
at The Great Frame Up
CJHS student artwork was rewarded and displayed
for "The Creative Self-expression Show" on May 5 at
the Great Frame Up, 7919 Golf Rd., Morton Grove. The following
students' work is featured: Jennifer Feldman, Deanna Levin, Ashley
Silver, Ron Gejman, Shlomi Mir, Lanie Abisdris, Noam Davidoff,
Jessie Silverman, Rachel Bobrick, Ari Berkowicz, Charlie Gandelman,
Jorie Goldsmith, Miriam Balinsky, Zach Frankel, Becky Kupchan
and Jason Wiznitzer.
Thank you to art teacher Mrs. Marla
Snyder who organized the event and helped prepare her students
for the competition. "The Great Frame
Up" awarded a certificate and a $50 check to the winners
in each category. The artwork will be displayed until
May 12.

CJHS
walks with Israel
Dozens of CJHS students, parents
and faculty participated in the annual JUF "Israel
Solidarity Day" on May 2. CJHS students and staff received a
T-shirt designed by junior Becky Kupchan to wear at the walk. CJHS has
extra "Israel is my homeland" on sale for $5. Contact Student
Activities Coordinator Mr. Schultz
to buy a t-shirt.
Tefillah Consultant
visits CJHS
CJHS had the pleasure of hosting
Dr.
Saul Wachs, a tefillah consultant from the United Synagogue of Conservative
Judaism on May 5 and 6. Dr. Wachs observed Tefillot, studied with CJHS
students and faculty and shared invaluable feedback with the administration
that we CJHS will use to enhance our program.
Art assignment
challenges students to create meaningful cartoons
The CJHS studio art class, taught
by Mrs. Snyder created political, social and CJHS specific cartoons. Students
drew cartoons exploring the situation in Israel, the upcoming Presidential
elections and various situations specific to CJHS. The following is a
cartoon drawn by junior Becky Kupchan in which she parodies a student
forgetting to put on his kippah.

English teacher Ms. Dickman attended
the Great Books Workshop on Shared
Inquiry from April 28-29 in Chicago. Rabbi in Residence Rabbi Barkan and
Talmud teacher Mr. Zaff attended the Supervision and Curriculum Development
Conference on Assessment April 29-30 in Chicago.
CJHS Bible teacher speaks
to 20 and 30-somethings about conversion
Bible teacher Rabbi Dickman spoke to attendees at a
Young Leadership Division seminar titled "A Jew by Chance or a Jew
by Choice: What we can learn from the conversion process" on May 6 in
Chicago.

CJHS welcomes the first members of its Class
of 2022! Mazel Tov! Mazel Tov! to Rabbi Elliot Goldberg and Rabbi Sheryl
Katzman on the birth of their twin daughters last shabbat. Mom and girls
are doing fine.

CJHS juniors and seniors
celebrate 'Prom'
CJHS juniors and seniors and their
friends will celebrate "Prom" by attending a show at Second
City on May 8. Students will meet at 9:30 p.m. Skokie Schechter at where
a bus will drive them in to the city. Juniors and seniors will return
to Skokie Schechter at 2:15 a.m. The event was planned by junior Jessie
Silverman with much effort from Student Activities Director Mr. Schultz.
A special thank you to chaperones Executive Director Inez Altman, Bible
teachers Rabbi Dickman, Mrs. Halivni, and P.E. teacher Ms. Finfer.

The campaign season for the 2004-05
student government has begun. Students have posted posters throughout
the school in their attempt to win the Va'ad Election on May 19. The

Arts Festival
CJHS is proud to announce its
Spring Fine Arts Festival, featuring performances from the CJHS fine
arts classes, including the one-act “The Ugly Duckling” by (Winnie the
Pooh author) A.A. Milne. The performance is at 1 p.m. on May 23 and
is hosted by Congregation Kehillat Shalom at Temple Judea Mitzpah, 8610
Niles Center Road. Tickets are available from Student Activities Coordinator
Mr. Schultz .

Join CJHS at 5:30
p.m. on June 1 for the school's first commencement ceremony. Seniors
Zach Berkman, Evan Dreifuss, Mollie Flink, Samantha Freeman and Beth
