What happened at school
this week?
CJHS students attend
Jewish high schools conference outside Atlanta
Six CJHS tigers spent four days in the mountains of North
Georgia, sharing ruach, ideas, and experiences at the NAAJHS Continental
Shabbaton at Camp Ramah Darom.
"The shabbaton was great," junior Jacob Kanter said.
"I have been to similar leadership seminars, but this one stood out
from the crowd. It might sound corny, but I do feel empowered now that
I have seen the effects that action has on Jewish high schools similar
to ours."
The theme of the Shabbaton was "The Web," and emphasized
the interconnectedness of every school community and ways in which students
could use their influence to help their communities solve problems.
"This Shabaton meant a lot to me," junior Noam Davidoff
said. "The NAAJHS weekend inspired me to be more of a role model and also
inspired me to search for ways in which I can embrace tefillah. I also
feel that I made a strong connection with CJHS students that I would ordinarily
not discuss deep issues with."
In addition to Noam and Jacob, senior Samantha Freeman,
sophomores Benji Derman, Linda Levin and freshman Abby Landis participated
in the trip.
